The latest sci-fi adventure novel by Dr. Ronald W. Hull. Set in Los Angeles when Covid Amazonia-9 arrives, the two D’s, Derek & Drake, struggle to create a new society in the face of hostile remnants of the old. Can the two D’s survive the apocalypse and collect enough civilized people to Start Over? Or will they have to contemplate ‘Starting Over’ on another world? A dystopian view of what the world might look like after a global pandemic and what kind of future may await the survivors if they leave the Earth behind.
NEW REVIEW: I must say that the book was hard to put down after starting to read it because I needed to know what incredible disaster was going to happen on the next page and how our heroes were going to solve it. Dr. Hull revels his engineering expertise throughout the novel though incredible problem-solving techniques. Granted, in the seven years to 2032 from now, who knows what technology we will have, but critical infrastructure replacement could take eons in a devastated society. It appears that Dr. Hull wants to be remembered as a George Orwell 1984 kinda guy as a predictor to the future. The rabbit breeding method of replacing mankind bothered me because down the road you could end up with children marrying and grandchildren all from the same father which is called incest and could cause serious birth defects, but after all it is just fantasy. What the story lacks is the emotional plot twists of the average English mystery novel, some of which actually make me sweat to read… –The bookworm.
REVIEW: Ronald W. Hull’s novel, ‘Starting Over,’ unfolds with apocalyptic and dystopian gravity. Set primarily in the Los Angeles area, the story begins in 2032 at the outbreak of a pandemic spread by ‘Amazonia-9’… This novel thrives on the intricacies of “starting over” from the ground up. I highly recommend this groundbreaking cautionary tale. –Eva Pasco, writer in realism
REVIEW: Ron Hull’s post-apocalyptic novel is a dark look at what the world might look like following a global pandemic exponentially worse than what the world experienced with COVID [as] Humanity teeters on the edge of extinction… A gritty, uncomfortable, yet compelling story that reminded me that the end may not come with explosive annihilation. It may just as easily come with microscopic stealth. –Rebecca McKeehan, author, poet, essayist
