Free copy of Frenzy

Free copy of Frenzy

Now temporarily a coupon code is available to anyone who can send me a link showing that they have posted a review of ANY Equus or Dark Lotus book online. The review must be at least 3 sentences long but can be good, bad, or indifferent. As they say, any publicity is good publicity so long as they spell your name right.

Once I get the link, I will email you the coupon code which can be used to purchase a paper-back copy of Frenzy on this website. You still have to go thru the purchase process on this website and pay $2.00 for shipping within the continental US, but applying the coupon deducts $7.99 from the total cost.

This can be combined with purchase of other books and the flat rate of $2.00 still applies to the total. A condition of the discount is, if I like the review, I get to post it here on Equus Publishing. Obviously, this offer applies ONLY on this website, not to purchases of Frenzy on any other site, including Amazon or Ingram.

Warriors Video added

I just added a nice video of myself discussing my new book The Warriors – a parody of that great 1979 cult movie The Warriors. Look to the sidebar at your right and you will see the video. I also included a YT video of one of the many famous scenes in the movie. (yes, there is a direct parody of this scene inside my book!)

Background to Frenzy

Background to Frenzy

When I wrote the sci-fi horror novel Frenzy 18 years ago, Houston’s tunnels had inundated due to Tropical Storm Allison. Here’s a picture of what happened to almost every pedestrian tunnel in Houston in 2001.

As a result of the devastation caused by Allison, Houston installed central command centers and gates much like submarine doors to compartmentalize Houston’s pedestrian tunnels, especially the tunnels under the medical center. Here are photos I took under the medical center during 2016.

Of course Hurricane Harvey hit in late 2017 causing over four times the damage as Allison. (I’m still feeling the effects of Harvey, literally). Here are some more photos of flooded Houston tunnels, though these may also be from Allison. Some of Houston’s tunnels flooded during Harvey, but the medical center activated their submarine doors and in 2017 was not flooded for the most part.

In my novel Frenzy, the unfortunate victims wade through just such a flood inside the tunnels when someone unleashes experimental piranhas assembled under scientific techniques described by the physicist Stephen Wolfram. I will soon be awarding a free copy of Frenzy to anyone who preorders a copy of my new novel The Warriors. Watch the landing page for details. -Glenn Lazar Roberts

ScaryDad Convention

This is a new convention in Houston still mostly unknown. I’ve been invited to host a literary panel. I’m not sure I will do that since I’m burned out from doing panels at Comicpalooza several years in a row, but I will certainly have a table at ScaryDad to sign my books. Look for me there. Authorsden authoring

I returned to Authorsden last night. They’re not cheap, but I decided to stay with them a bit longer, posting Quantum Marlowe info and making Chapter 1 available for download. I also made a couple of copies of QM available for review on that site, both physical and pdf. Authorsden is kind of a ghetto with writers selling more to each other than to the public. But then, isn’t that the dilemma of all writers today? With Youtube and video games, the literacy of the general public is dropping like a… I almost said stone, but I would never put in print such a tired cliche.

Blog fixed

It’s taken a week or so but I think I finally fixed the Blog issues. If this post shows up at the proper time and place on the new Blog page, then I’ve done it! My next issue is to return to the newsletter. I have not implemented Mailchimp, primarily due to their reputation for dumping their customers without warning and sabotaging their businesses. The installation I have is currently working, but I’m still looking for a reliable email client.

Progress

After a hectic summer I have finally got Equus Publishing off the ground. The Shop and Cart seem to be working right. Now I’m working on the Newsletter. Our writers’ Critique Group is more active than ever, with a wide variety of writers attending, from traditionally published and successful authors to newbies working on their first story.

Currently I’m still doing free editing for CG writers who request extensive treatment of several chapters–after all, we are just trying to help each other write. But soon I will be charging for extensive editing jobs.
